What happens in two years when planting a hedgerow?
Stronger plants and stronger partnerships!
When we first visited one of our pilot hedgerows in July 2023, the young shrubs were barely visible in the surrounding crops. Two years later, we returned to the site together with Thorsten Permien from the Kompetenzzentrum Ökowertpapiere to exchange ideas on how hedgerows and biodiversity credits can go hand in hand.
It was impressive to see how much the plants had grown, a result that’s far from guaranteed, especially in their early years and under increasingly dry summer conditions. A big thank-you to our local project partner for the committed care and watering.
That day, we also enjoyed inspiring conversations with two other pioneers of sustainable agriculture and finance: Christian Hiß and Dr. Manfred Vohrer, who are working to advance market-based mechanisms that drive the sustainability transition.
The day ended on a delicious note at Vegetarisches Restaurant Adelhaus Gaststätte, a regional restaurant initiative connected to Regionalwert AG Freiburg-Südbaden, living proof that shared values and value creation can grow together.
