We’re excited to share that our Commercial Director, Max R., has co-authored a new Discussion Paper together with naturebase consultant Moriz Vohrer, tackling one of the biggest challenges in land-use carbon projects: the permanence problem.

The paper outlines concrete proposals to bridge the gap between non-permanent land-use projects and long-term climate claims, helping to align with legal, market, and regulatory requirements such as Science Based Targets initiative’s Net-zero standard or ISO – International Organization for Standardization’s 14068-1:2023 carbon neutrality standard.

🔍 Inside the paper:

✅ Why courts reject carbon neutrality or compensation claims based on land-use credits.

✅ How current frameworks (UNFCCC, EU, ICVCM, SBTi & ISO) fall short of providing a solid legal basis for NbS projects.

✅ Proposed solution: Pairing land-use credits with permanent units under a “permanence guarantee” offering a practical path to legal credibility.

For: Carbon market experts, credit buyers, insurers, project developers, and regulators.
