Project Description

The project is located in a transition zone between the Andean mountains and the Patagonian grasslands in Argentina. Developed in partnership with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Andean-Patagonian Forestry Research and Extension Center (CIEFAP), and the local Ministry of Agriculture, the project is carried out in collaboration with local farmers. Its primary goal is to create forest cover and expand forests in regions designated for afforestation by the Argentinian government. The project employs a silvopastoral agroforestry approach, combining sheep grazing with forestry, creating a sustainable land-use model that enhances biodiversity, fights wind erosion, diversifies income for farmers, and restores overgrazed ecosystems.
