We’re excited to share that today we signed the benefit sharing agreement with two of our project partners in one of our forest carbon projects in Paraguay. ✍️

In the context of carbon projects, ensuring a fair and transparent benefit sharing process with farmers and landowners is essential. The U.S. Agency for International Development provides a strong framework on what these agreements should entail.

Key takeaways for a fair partnership include:

✅ Fair Process: Ensure all stakeholders have access to information translated into local languages, and partners have legal representation to negotiate on equal terms.

✅ Fair Terms: Minimize risks for communities, especially when they incur costs as a condition of participation, by implementing fixed payments as compensation.

✅ Fair Distribution: Establish clear and legally enforceable rights for partners, and ensure systems are in place for traceability and accountability in the distribution of benefits.

We’re looking forward to the positive outcomes this collaboration will bring! 🌱
